THANK YOU from the NEB PTG ~ Playground Project Update

The NEB PTG wishes to thank the Northeast Bradford community for participating in our recent Gertrude Hawk "Playground Project" Fundraiser.  Thanks for helping us make it so successful!

Combining our profit from the 2012 Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser with our recent fundraiser, we now have just over $30,000 set aside in our Playground Account for the Playground Project.

We will send out formal thank you's to everyone, including those folks who donated in lieu of or in addition to the Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser.

And a special shout-out and thanks to Ms. Warburton's 2nd Grade Class.  We were given an envelope of money they collected of mostly coins ... pennies, nickels, dimes ... what a kind gesture.  We can't thank them enough.  These kids inspire us to work even harder.

PTG Members Kerri Strauss, Judy Davenport and JoAnn Walter attended the April School Board meeting, where Kerri officially presented the PTG's "Playground Project" goals and initiatives.  We have a good feeling that the School Board and District are in favor of the Playground Project and can offer some financial support, and will await further word on details.  We have set a preliminary goal to raise $50,000 just for the K/1 playground equipment.

The NEB PTG invites the Northeast Bradford community to join us in this great undertaking.  As Kerri said so well in her presentation to the School Board, "We want to make a positive impact on the students, teachers, staff, school and community as a whole  We want to engage everyone, including local businesses and community groups.  Playing outside is a vital part of childhood that helps children develop physical strength, coordination and balance.  It provides opportunities for children to develop social skills, imagination and creativity, and a sense of self as well as a sense of connection."

We welcome you to help make the Playground Project a reality.  We need your help.  Help us achieve that sense of connection.  Consider attending our next evening PTG meeting, which will be announced shortly, or contact one of us for details about how you can help.
