THANK YOU from the NEB PTG ~ Playground Project Update

The NEB PTG wishes to thank the Northeast Bradford community for participating in our recent Gertrude Hawk "Playground Project" Fundraiser.  Thanks for helping us make it so successful!

Combining our profit from the 2012 Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser with our recent fundraiser, we now have just over $30,000 set aside in our Playground Account for the Playground Project.

We will send out formal thank you's to everyone, including those folks who donated in lieu of or in addition to the Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser.

And a special shout-out and thanks to Ms. Warburton's 2nd Grade Class.  We were given an envelope of money they collected of mostly coins ... pennies, nickels, dimes ... what a kind gesture.  We can't thank them enough.  These kids inspire us to work even harder.

PTG Members Kerri Strauss, Judy Davenport and JoAnn Walter attended the April School Board meeting, where Kerri officially presented the PTG's "Playground Project" goals and initiatives.  We have a good feeling that the School Board and District are in favor of the Playground Project and can offer some financial support, and will await further word on details.  We have set a preliminary goal to raise $50,000 just for the K/1 playground equipment.

The NEB PTG invites the Northeast Bradford community to join us in this great undertaking.  As Kerri said so well in her presentation to the School Board, "We want to make a positive impact on the students, teachers, staff, school and community as a whole  We want to engage everyone, including local businesses and community groups.  Playing outside is a vital part of childhood that helps children develop physical strength, coordination and balance.  It provides opportunities for children to develop social skills, imagination and creativity, and a sense of self as well as a sense of connection."

We welcome you to help make the Playground Project a reality.  We need your help.  Help us achieve that sense of connection.  Consider attending our next evening PTG meeting, which will be announced shortly, or contact one of us for details about how you can help.

Also, congratulations to the students who won Top Seller Prizes in our recent Gertrude Hawk Fundraiser.  The #1 Top Seller received a Kindle Fire ($813.50 in total sales):

Quentin J. (Grade K)  -  Kindle Fire
Kelton R. (Grade K)  -  DVD System
Gavin B. (Grade 5)  -  $25 Gertrude Hawk gift cert.
Lillian S. (Grade K)  -  Gertrude Hawk choco tower

Ten (10) students each received gift certificates to use at the upcoming Book Fair:

Nikita W. (Grade K), Riley W. & Kaylynn T. (Grade 1), Hannah A. (Grade 2), Hayden M. (Grade 3), Madison J. (Grade 4), Jorja W. (Grade 5), Emma M. (Grade 6)

Thanks again for supporting the NEB PTG.  Happy Easter.

Northeast Bradford Ed Assoc (NEBEA) Gives $1,000 to NEB PTG Playground Project

To our Northeast Bradford friends, family and community,

The NEB PTG wishes to thank the Northeast Bradford Education Association (NEBEA) for their generous gift of $1,000 toward the PTG's Playground Project.

Our Teachers and Staff at Northeast Bradford take great pride in giving back to the community.  They have an ongoing track record of helping various organizations.

You can visit their web site at:  http://northeastbradfordea.psealocals.org to learn more about their community service.

Again, we can't thank the NEBEA enough for thinking of our Playground Project as a way to give back.  What a wonderful reflection of community spirit!

The PTG's initial goal is to focus on the Kindergarten/1st Grade playground, so this money will be used toward the purchase of new equipment and other items necessary for renovation.

We are accepting additional donations.  Checks can be made payable to "NEB PTG" and mailed to NEB PTG, 210 Panther Lane, Rome, PA 18837.  Thank you for your consideration.

We also welcome you to join the PTG's Playground Project as we move forward with our plans.  We are in need of additional help to make our Playground Project successful.

Sincerely,

JoAnn Walter
Judy Davenport
Kerri Strauss

Another Way to Show Your School Spirit

Show your school spirit with this generously sized golf umbrella.

In NEB's school colors, it will certainly make you stand out in a crowd (as well as help keep you dry, or keep you shaded on those sunnier days).

$35 each, sports the NEB Panther logo!

Great for sporting events, out on the golf course, running out to the mailbox, you name it!

All Spirit Wear purchases support the NEB Elementary PTG activities/events and the Playground Project.  Order forms in elementary school office or on-line here (see previous post).
